Dr Thaker

Dr. Lorraine Thaker studied at McGill University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and a Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) in 1992. She practiced in Ottawa for 17 years and then in 2009 she founded Smilez Dentistry to be closer to home and her community.

Dr. Thaker has devoted hundreds of hours towards advanced dental education, as well as being a member of various dental academies in Canada and the USA. She is a strong proponent of continuing education, having played an active role in founding the Ottawa Women Dentists Study Club (OWDSC) and having been a member of the Continuing Education Committee of the Ottawa Dental Society (ODS).

Dr Lane

Dr. Nicole Lane obtained her Honours B.Sc from Queen’s University and then pursued her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (D.M.D) degree at McGill University. Upon graduation in 2007, she completed a residency in General Dentistry at the University of Buffalo. Before joining Smilez Dentistry, Dr. Lane worked for 10 years in private practice in the Burlington area.

Annete Prins

Annette Prins is a Level II Dental Assistant with over 10 years of experience. She has a passion for children’s dental health. Annette is the mother of a young energetic boy and a new born girl. She loves crafting and spending time with family.

Carolyn Wood-Lyons

Carolyn Wood-Lyons is a Registered Dental Hygienist who graduated with honors from Algonquin College, where she also received the Hu‑Friedy Golden Scaler award.  Carolyn loves to connect with patients while providing the best oral care possible and making sure patients leave with a greater understanding of their oral health.  She lives in Carleton Place with her husband and three children and loves spending time on the Mississippi River.

Denise Croteau

Denise Croteau, retired from a career in Education, is part of the administration team at Smilez Dentistry.  This farming mother of three enjoys helping patients and their families plan  for their dental health needs.

Julie Sadler

Julie Sadler has been with Dr. Thaker at Smilez Dentistry since it opened in 2009. She has over 40 years of experience as a Dental Hygienist. After three years of providing hygiene treatment at Smilez, Julie retired from her chosen profession but continues to remain a valuable member of the team - Julie contributes her dental knowledge and love of patients by managing our Dental Lab as well as assisting patients with their treatments.

Lynne Fowler

Lynn Fowler's smile is the first smile that you will see when you visit Smilez Dentistry!  She has 20 years of experience in the dental field as an office administrator, and LOVES taking care of and meeting new people. Lynn is married and the mother of twin boys.

Melanie Gourlay

Melanie Gourlay is an experienced and knowledgeable dental assistant that has made Carleton Place her home for over 40 years. Her three children keep her very busy with community activities, but in her spare time she enjoys walking her dog , reading and spending time with friends and family.

Robynne Bell

Robynne Bell is a Registered Dental Hygienist who graduated from Algonquin College 7 years ago. Robynne focuses on easing patient fears through education and by boosting their comfort and confidence. She firmly believes this ensures greater patient commitment towards optimal oral health. When not focussing on her passion for teeth, Robynne loves her family life in Carleton Place with her husband and two young children, and adores spending time walking their family dog.

Stacey Berger Cuthbertson

Stacey Cuthbertson has worked as a travel agent and office manager for close to 20 years and in 3 different countries. After running a travel business from her home, Stacey wanted to return to a positive and caring office environment. Having been a long time patient at Smilez, she knew this was the environment for her. When not working, you will find her in her garden, at home with her husband and three step kids, at a softball field or being a bigger part of the Carleton Place community.
